The Starry Night

The Starry Night painting was inspired by the view from the window at the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum in Southern France, where van Gogh spent a year seeking reprieve from his mental illnesses. In the depiction of the night sky we can see Venus at center left and the bright moon at the right.
