This digital garment features Vermeer’s painting The Little Street (c.1658). The artwork is a Vermeer’s portrait of ordinary houses. The composition is very balanced – old walls with their bricks, whitewash, and cracks are almost tangible. The location is Vlamingstraat 40-42 in Delft. Vermeer’s aunt Ariaentgen Claes lived in the house at the right, with her children, from around 1645 until her death in 1670.

About the artist:
Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675) is one of the most celebrated Dutch XVII century masters. The son of a silk worker who bought and sold art, Vermeer lived and worked in Delft (Netherlands) all his life. Vermeer’s paintings are meticulous compositions of interiors featuring one or two figures, usually women. These are intimate genre paintings in which the subject is engaged in some everyday activity, usually in the light of a nearby window.
