This dress is inspired by the Baule heads of Côte d’Ivoire. The human face was an explored subject of Baule goldsmiths of Côte d’Ivoire. These faces, casted in the form of gold ornaments, might be worn as neck pendants or attached to weapons. Their most important role was to serve as family heirlooms, symbols of family unity stretching across generations. Rarely, they were displayed at funerals and wedding ceremonies.

About the brand:
Origho immortalises and re-interpretes heritage and culture, fusing rich traditional craftsmanship with modern technologies to create forms that empower, educate, and inspire social change. This collection is inspired by the intricately crafted gold and bronze regalia of revered African tribes including Ashanti, Akan and Asante of Ghana, Baule of Côte d’Ivoire, and Benin of Nigeria.
The collection uses a multicultural approach by fusing ancient African craftsmanship with modern western and European silhouettes to create unique works of art that educate on history and heritage.
